In this slightly dated post, ME Holden made the compelling case that there's a viable future for the medium - we want to explore the sustainability of local newspapers and related business practices.
The vast majority of consumers (almost 80% across demos) surveyed at that time said they relied (to some extent) on local newspapers for community news, information, across platforms (print, websites, social media, and apps). Equally, both newspaper advertising and editorial were valued and trusted.
The piece states that newspapers represent "one unified trusted information source....[and] ...that the core values that consumers have attributed to newspaper media historically have not changed despite fragmentation, demo shifts or omni-channel distribution".
We'll be sharing some updated data and information in some of our upcoming blog posts.
